APPLIQUE CRAFTS

Odisha's traditional Appliqué craft, known as 'Chandua,' involves stitching decorative fabric pieces onto a base cloth to create vibrant patterns and motifs. Recognized with a GI tag in 2008, this heritage art is beautifully showcased in striking items like umbrellas and lampshades—blending functionality, tradition, and timeless craftsmanship.

GOLDEN GRASS CRAFTS

Golden Grass handicrafts, made from naturally golden-hued Kaincha grass found in Odisha's wetlands, are eco-friendly, lightweight, and biodegradable. Women artisans skillfully weave baskets, boxes, mats, and more—creating sustainable decor. This craft supports rural livelihoods, empowers women, and showcases Odisha’s heritage in global and local markets.

JUTE CRAFTS

While jute was traditionally grown in Bengal, Odisha has long used natural fibers for rope, mats, and utility crafts. In the late 20th century, jute gained popularity in Odisha through rural development and women’s empowerment programs. In Baleshwar, women artisans began crafting eco-friendly products like folders, bags, coasters, and wall hangings—blending tradition with sustainable innovation.

STONE CRAFTS

Odisha’s rich stone craft legacy is seen in iconic temples like Konark and Lingaraj. Baleshwar artisans have contributed to major temples in India and abroad—including Akshardham, ISKCON, and Ram Mandir—reaching as far as Malaysia, Fiji, and Germany.

SABAI GRASS CRAFTS

Sabai Grass, once used for ropes and paper, evolved into a traditional craft in Northern Odisha, especially Baleshwar. In Baliapal, women-led clusters now weave it into baskets, mats, and coasters, supporting community livelihoods.

SOFT TOYS CRAFTS

Soft toy making in Odisha has become a key livelihood, led by women SHGs in districts like Baleshwar, Mayurbhanj, and Khurda. Using cotton, jute, and recycled materials, artisans create dolls, animals, and decor, blending tradition with sustainability.

PALM LEAF CRAFTS

Palm Leaf Craft, or Talapatra Chitra, is an ancient Odia art form featuring etched epic tales on dried leaves. Today, artisans craft palm leaf gift boxes that blend tradition, sustainability, and aesthetics—ideal for eco-conscious, culturally rich gifting.

PATTACHITRA CRAFTS

Pattachitra, a 1,000-year-old sacred art of Odisha, reflects devotion, mythology, and originating from the Jagannath Temple traditions. Once ritualistic, it now thrives commercially on silk, canvas, and utility items, gaining global recognition and support.
